Aussie Hill's Smokey for sale $5,000 - Yes, it is true!

We have too many herd sires right now. We have 5 high quality sires (plus 2 junior sires) and only 18 females which means many sires are not getting to do "their job". Smokey was the first cria born on this farm and as you can see from his winnings, he is amazing. He was born in 2004 and was still winning fleece shows in 2008. His fleece is still show worthy. He was listed for $15,000 but I would love to see him go to a farm that needs to improve their herd so I have reduced his sales price to $5,000. 90% of his progeny showed and placed in level 4 and 5 shows. Why pay $3,000 for breedings when you can have a sire like this. Smokey really needs to be breeding so I am willing to let him go for this amount.
Smokey is a MFI Peruvian Donovan son who has lived up to his father's reputation. Smokey has placed and/or taken a championship at every show he has been in. He is extremely dense with lots of luster, fineness, and staple. Smokey took 1st place and championship at 2004 Breeder's Choice which was his first show. In 2006 he took 1st place and reserve champion at Empire Symposium and Fleece Show, his first fleece showing. Smokey and his brother, Imbroglio of Aussie Hill helped to take 1st in Produce of Dam at Empire Extravaganza in 2005 and in 2006 at the North American Alpaca Show in a class of 22. He took a 3rd place at NAAS full fleece 2 year old. Mike Safely commented that he had the finest fleece in the group with a very soft handle. Smokey's progeny have done very well in the show ring and at big auctions. Every one of his cria's has looked spectacular. We never thought we would ever consider selling Smokey but we have several of his progeny on ground that we will keep and we now have too many jr. herdsires and herdsires for our size farm. This is the best time to pass along this great to a farm who needs to greatly improve their herd and get into the show ring!

Personal Commentary on the Alpaca Industry:
As with all businesses in the U.S., the alpaca industry has been hit somewhat and prices and sales are currently down. I strongly believe in the future of the alpaca business and it's strong business opportunity and tax advantages. Along with incredible breeding practices in this country coupled with a very good alpaca registry and a national organization, this industry will ride out this recession along with all other who are successful in business. Like any business, the alpaca farming is not for those without a strong entrepreneurial spirit. It takes time, energy, wise business sense, planning, marketing, and risk. When you partner with Aussie Hill, we do all we can to insure your success. Our sales numbers have not decreased with the recession which I believe is a testament to our strong breeding standards and customer satisfaction.
